Blu-ray Review: BlacKkKlansman

Universal Pictures has finally released Spike Lee’s incendiary feature film, BlacKkKlansman, on Blu-ray.

Not long after Ron Stallworth becomes the first African American detective in the Colorado Springs Police Department, he decides to infiltrate the local chapter of the KKK – headed by David Duke – with the help of a Jewish colleague named Flip Zimmerman. The plan is to expose each of the members, including Duke himself.

The film is based on a true story, and it is both hilarious and horrifying. Spike Lee brings his trademark style to the film, and even though the tone is all over the place, the film works. Featuring stellar performances from John David Washington, Adam Driver, and Topher Grace, this is the film that America needs right now. It is unapologetically angry. It will ruffle all of the right feathers. And it’s Lee’s best film since Bamboozled.

The last fifteen minutes are explosive – exposing Trump for the cowardly racist that he is, and utilizing actual footage of the Charlottesville Riot to drive the point home.

Do not miss it!
